About the US Armed Forces Mothers, Squad 41
First organized locally in 1985 as the United States Air Force Mothers, the US Armed Forces Mothers is a non-profit organization made up of women with sons and/or daughters serving in all branches of the United States Armed Services. In July 1990, the US Air Force Mothers decided to reorganize their group to include support for all mothers with sons and daughters serving in the active duty military. This led the members to rename the group to our current title, United States Armed Forces Mothers, Squad 41. Since then, our primary mission has been to provide support to all of our sons and daughters as they serve our country far from home, often times in very dangerous places. We are also concerned with providing assistance and support to the families of our loved ones when needed, as well as to one another. We hope to enhance awareness of military life on behalf of those stationed at home or abroad during times of war or peace, and to demonstrate community support through our activities for those who serve us daily. Since we are a non-profit organization, activities are generally funded by our annual dues, group fundraisers, and donations from community businesses and veteran's organizations. Whether it is a birthday card or our annual Christmas boxes being sent out to the troops, we always do our best to let our service members know that we are thinking about them and their sacrifices on these special occasions. Membership is open to mothers and "adoptive" mothers with any son or daughter who may be serving in the active duty military around the world.
